Kayaking Campout

Hello troop, this is Abel with the latest post. This week I will be writing about the Kayaking campout. Recently, the troop went to Fort Monroe with Sea Scout crew 1610 to go Kayaking. It was a lot of fun and 19 scouts earned their kayaking merit badge. We camped at Newport News Park and 4 scouts got rank advancements.

BJ’s eagle project

Hi everybody its me Abel with the next post covering BJ Diongzon’s eagle scout project. We went to work making oyster cages, and we learned how to do many things like using hog rings and cutting metal.

Camp Cherokee 2020

Hello Troop 242. This year we were able to do a modified summer camp at Cherokee Scout reservation in North Carolina. We did a range of activities from swimming at the lakefront to throwing tomahawks and, of course, earning merit badges. The troop hosted merit badges as well so that we could earn multiple badges.

June Campout

Hello troop! This month we had our first official camping trip since COVID-19 started. We had a lot of fun while camping, and we also had a dutch oven dessert contest.

July 4th Flag raising

Hello troop this is Abel. This year, despite COVID-19, Troop 242 was able to continue the annual tradition of helping the Knights of Columbus with their July 4th flag raising ceremony. You can watch a video of the ceremony at https://youtu.be/2m232_B3qfM.

Matthew’s Eagle Project

Hello Troop. Matthew van Horn just had one of his eagle projects. It was a great opportunity to get some excercise and also get some service hours. The goal of the project was to build a little area behind a school.

Council 5k
