Pass The Paint

Over the last few months, the troop has completed a high number of Eagle Scout Projects. Brody is the newest scout who recently completed his project at The Knights of Columbus. Brody powerwashed and repainted 46 parking blocks on the back-half of the Knights building over to the pavilion. These blocks definitely needed a makeover.

Jonathan’s Eagle Project

For my project, I had the privilege of building two benches and one shelf for the SPCA. The SPCA will use the benches for their meeting area, so people can sit down and play with the animal they wish to adopt. The shelf will be used to store pet supplies for pet owners to buy, like dog beds and food bowls. The benches will be stained, and the shelf will be painted blue. I really enjoyed doing this project and hope that the SPCA will enjoy the benches for a long time!

Matthew’s Eagle Project

As the Project Manager, Matthew took on the task of demolishing and rebuilding two wooden bridges on a running trail. Since Peninsula Catholic High School’s track team uses the trail that is behind the school in a wooded area for practices and races. Matthew hopes that his project will be used for years to come.

Gone Fishing!

The Troop added another had an unforgettable memory to the never ending bucket list of activities. The charted boat of choice was the Ocean Eagle. Scouts and Scouters casted their lines in hopes of catching something.

Well, a variety of fish were caught, including several baby sharks! Did they sing the “Baby Shark”theme song?🙂. This trip was definitely a blast filled with fond memories and friendship.

Philmont Crew

Several Scouts & Scouters went to the Philmont Scout Ranch during the Summer for the annual Philmont trek in New Mexico. The crew of 11 put in over 50 miles spanding a week. They had to hike up and down mountains while one of them was at least well over 10,000 feet above sea level and the other, roughly at 9,000 feet. Gladly, the Philmont Crew came back home safe and sound! For Scouts and Scouters who haven’t made the trek yet, definitely put it on your scouting bucket list!!

New Bluebird Houses

Birds flying around the Newport News Golf Course May have found some newly built houses to nest in. John’s Eagle Project was repairing bluebird houses at the Newport News Golf Course in cooperation with Hampton Roads Bird Club.

Brandon’s Eagle Project

If you haven’t been to Sandy Bottom Nature Park in a few years, chances are you never noticed the rotted outside amphitheater next to the nature center. Brandon took on the task of revamping the amphitheater by replacing the wood from the benches and damaged braces with new lumber.
