Troop 242 meets on Wednesdays at 7pm behind the Knights of Columbus Hall located at 12742 Nettles Dr, Newport News, VA 23606.
Troop 242 (B) and 242 (G) is a scout led environment, where the Senior Patrol Leader is tasked with the start and finish of our meetings. With the help of Assistant Patrol Leaders and Patrol Leaders, there’s plenty of non-stop activity for the scouts. The SPL, ASPL and Patrol Leaders help mentor newer scouts and also plan meetings and annual activities. During our weekly meetings, we participate in fun learning activities that are rank and merit badge related. The adult leaders make time to meet with scouts and to sign off on requirements that the scouts have mastered. Troop 242 is an all-weather, all year camping unit. From kayaking, hiking, caving, white water rafting, and flying in a helicopter. Scoutmaster Minutes:
There was a former teacher in Chesapeake, Virginia who taught ‘Life Lessons’. He had a plain piece of paper in the front of his class that said, “You always have a choice.” He wanted his students to know that decisions would make a difference in how their lives would end up. The sky is the limit if you are willing to put in the effort.
The decision to join Scouting will open up a world of fun and excitement, learning life skills, experiencing the great outdoors, and developing leadership skills for life.
