Troop 242’s Newest Eagle Scout – Braden

Congratulations to our newest Eagle Scout, Braden! Achieving this rank reflects a lot of dedication, leadership skills, and commitment to service within the community. His perseverance and the positive impact he’s made on the community stands out. Scoutmaster Mr. Grieme had this to say about Braden’s Eagle Board of Review: “The board was very impressed with Braden’s performance and enjoyed the broad discussion on his journey to Eagle.”

Thanksgiving in the Woods 2023

Troop 242 held our annual Thanksgiving in the Woods camp out at Northwest River Park. This is always a favorite camp out! The scouts spent Saturday zip lining in Virginia Beach. There were obstacles and different levels of courses to navigate. Once everyone returned to the campsite some scouts worked on requirements and played games before it was time to start cooking. Scoutmaster Mr. Grieme was in charge of the turkeys while each patrol cooked the side dishes. It was a great weekend!

NYLT 2023

This past October the Colonial Virginia Council wrapped up the National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) Course. Troop 242 is proud to have had participants involved. We had 3 scouts graduate and 5 staff members.

Congratulations to Ben, Chase, and Jacob for graduating the two weekend course! Assistant Scoutmasters Jaime and Emma along with Scouts Spring, Jonathon, and Carter staffed the course.

NYLT is a youth led course that teaches advanced leadership skills for scouts to bring back to their units. Job well done to everyone involved!

New Webmaster

Greetings Troop 242!

I’m excited to join the ranks as your new Webmaster. As a Life Scout myself, I understand the power of storytelling within our troop. Our experiences, adventures, and shared moments are what make Troop 242 a community worth celebrating.

I’m open to all suggestions! Do you have an idea for a series of articles about outdoor skills, interviews with senior Scouts, or another idea? Your input will shape the content and direction of our Troop 242 website.

Together, let’s make our digital home a reflection of our incredible troop spirit. Drop your story suggestions in the comments below, or reach out to me directly.

Yours in scouting,
Chase
