December ’22 CoH

To end the scouting year, the troop held its final Court of Honor to close out the year. Normally it’s held at our scout pavilion, but this time, it was held at St. Michael’s Hall. There was so much good food, laughter and full bellies. Lots of merit badges were earned. One things for sure, the scouts like having the CoH at the hall.

Archery Merit Badge

Thanks to so many of our merit badge counselors, the troop can pretty much complete the whole list. The troop’s counselor was Mrs. B., who set up the class on one of our campouts. It seemed easy to hit the 🎯. After a few rounds, some scouts did well. One of the main topics discussed was proper handling and safety of the bows.

Lumberjack

Its been a long time since scouts from the troop participated in Lumberjack events. Mostly aimed towards the Fall, several brave scouts endured the rainy weekend. From starting a fire to sawing wood, these brave souls enjoyed all the festivities and can’t wait to do it again!

August ’22 CoH

The troop usually has several Court of Honor ceremonies throughout the year. We had lots of great tasting pizza, drinks and cookies. Scouts we’re recognized for making new rank and also passing their merit badge classes. Scouts and scouters had a great time!

Brian Makes Eagle

Brian hopped on the Eagle Scouting trail and added his name to the troops’ Eagle list. His eagle project consisted of making a walking path with gravel and pavers to walk on. With the help of his friends and scouts from the troop, Brian was able to complete his project for the new beneficiary.

Rifle & Shotgun Merit Badge

A fun and safe merit badge that a lot of scouts try to earn are the Rifle & Shotgun. With the help of the Lafayette Gun Club, scouts participate in a classroom setting about safety before we go on the range. Not all scouts qualify, but all scouts still have a great time just being able to shoot if it’s their first time.

Devil’s Marble Yard

It’s not as scary as it sounds! This is definitely on the top 10 list that the troop likes to visit. It’s a nice drive to the Blue Ridge Mountains. The campsite where we stay is kinda small but the scouts still have a good time. The excitement kicks in when you start seeing the boulders from afar. Once you climb up to the top of the boulders, you get to see how beautiful Mother Nature truly is!

Massanutten Ski Trip

When the troop takes its yearly ski trip, Wintergreen is our destination. This year for 2023, the troop decided it was time to visit Massanutten. The resort was a little smaller than Wintergreen, but the scouts still had a great time!

Troop Planning Day

It’s the end of another scout year and now we get together for our planning day. Scouts help with cleaning our troop gear. From tents, bear boxes, grills, etc. Once all gear is clean and restored in the shed, we get a little break and then lunch. Scouts and Scouters ate pizza, chips, cookies and drinks.
